2006 “WHEN I GROW UP…” CALENDAR TO BENEFIT THE TOM COUGHLIN JAY FUND FOUNDATION IS RELEASED

The fourth annual “When I Grow Up…” Calendar created by Susan Michal for the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation will be released on October 22, 2005, national “Make a Difference Day”. Sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine and the Points of Light Foundation the theme is a national day to help others. Its purpose is to inspire and reward volunteers. In celebration of “Make a Difference Day” the Jay Fund releases the calendar and highlights its community volunteers who will be selling them on Saturday, October 22 at many area shopping centers around Jacksonville. The calendars will also be available for purchase at all local Applebee’s, Bono’s Bar-b-ques, Football Fanatics, and Tropical Smoothie locations in Jacksonville now thru the end of the year for $12 each.

This uplifting calendar features over 60 local children who are dressed as what they may like to be when they grow up. Some of the children highlighted are suffering from leukemia or cancer and most are healthy, but they all have hopes and dreams. All proceeds from the sale of this calendar will go directly to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation to assist local families with a child suffering from cancer.

The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation was founded in 1996 in honor of Jay McGillis who was a special young man who played football for Coughlin at Boston College. Jay died of leukemia. The faith, courage and compassion he and his family demonstrated thru the course of Jay’s illness left a permanent mark on all who had the opportunity to know them. Since its inception the Jay Fund has contributed over 1.3 million dollars to assist families emotionally and financially.

The Mission of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation is to:

1. Assist children with leukemia and other cancers and their families during the course of their child’s illness.

2. Support clinical and laboratory research in leukemia and other childhood cancers that will be of benefit to these children and their families
