Second Annual PIGSKIN BALL raises $630,000 in a combined initiative of  Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants and Curtis Martin of the NY Jets

New York, NY (September 25, 2006) --- The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund and the National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children’s Foundation (NLEAFCF) again joined forces at the Second Annual Pigskin Ball in New York City on September 15th, 2006 and raised $630,000 towards their missions of helping children in need.  Over 500 people attended the fundraiser, including 49 current and former Giants and Jets players.  A truly one of a kind silent auction featured sports memorabilia, travel packages, tickets to sporting events, and much more and helped raise significant funds for the causes.  The featured entertainment for the evening was Daniel Rodriguez, “America’s tenor”, who performed his famous rendition of the National Anthem to begin the evening.  His timely addition to the event which took place just days after the five year anniversary of September 11th was inspiring.

The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund supports families going through the crisis of a child with cancer.  NLEAFCF supports families and children who have lost a parent in the line of duty or are enduring tragic circumstances.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Co-host of ABC’s The View and Bruce Beck Sports Anchor at WNBC partnered to emcee the event.  This festive evening was an entertaining way to kick-off of the NFL season with the Giants and Jets while raising money to support two children’s charities.  The total raised topped the inaugural event by $40,000.  For more information on the Pigskin Ball visit www.pigskinball.com or email  pigskinball@resevt.com.
