TOM COUGHLIN JAY FUND FOUNDATION
VALENTINES DAY PARTY
AND WOLFSON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL RECOGNITION
JACKSONVILLE, FL February 13 and 14, 2005-
The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation will host their annual Valentine’s Day Party on Sunday, February 13, 2005 from 2:00-4:30 at the Museum of Science and History (MOSH). The party is for children suffering from leukemia or cancer and their families who live in the Jacksonville area. Activities will include carnival style games, arts and crafts, museum tours and more.
On February 14th at 10:00 am in the main lobby of Wolfson Children’s Hospital Tom Coughlin and other board members of the Jay Fund will be recognized by Hugh Green, President and Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health and Larry Freeman, administrator of Wolfson Children’s Hospital for the contributions the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation has made to the Jacksonville community. An opportunity will be provided for the media to spend time with Tom Coughlin immediately following the recognition. Coughlin will then visit the pediatric oncology floor and the children who were hospitalized and too ill to attend the previous days party.
The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation has donated over 1 million dollars to Jacksonville area pediatric oncology patients and their families. The Jay Fund hopes to improve the quality of life for families by lessening their financial burden and providing emotional support.
The Jay Fund was established in honor of Jay McGillis, a special young man who played football at Boston College under Coughlin. McGillis died of leukemia at the age of 21. Through exceptional adversity and ultimate tragedy brought about by this fatal illness, Jay and his family set an example of courage and dignity that would forever leave its mark on those who knew him. <back to news index
