JACKSONVILLE, FL, - Coach Tom Coughlin started the Jay Fund in 1996. The foundation is named in honor of Jay McGillis. Jay was a special young man who played football for Coughlin at Boston College. Through exceptional adversity and ultimate tragedy brought about by his fatal illness, Jay and his family set an example of courage and dignity that would forever leave its mark on all those who knew him. The mission of the Jay Fund is to assist children with leukemia and other cancers and their families by providing emotional and financial support to help reduce the stress associated with treatment and improve their quality of life. Coughlin will host the fundraising event. The Lead Sponsor is THE PLAYERS Championship and the affair is presented by Acosta Sales and Marketing, First Coast News and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Sunday evening, May 3rd a dinner and auction will be held at the TPC Sawgrass and Monday morning, May 4th 150 golfers will tee off at Marsh Landing Country Club. The following is the list of Celebrities Scheduled to participate: “I am honored to have such fantastic support from the Jacksonville community and the many celebrity guests” says Coughlin. “This event is crucial to the fund raising efforts of the Jay Fund. In many cases the Jay Fund is the only hope for a family who has a child battling cancer and faces financial difficulties as a result.” For more information on the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund visit www.tcjayfund.org or call 904-543-2599.
