The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation is preparing to enter its second decade hosting one of the premier golf events on the First Coast. The 11th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic Event is the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund’s most successful annual fundraiser. The Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on Sunday, May 7th at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club and the Golf Tournament will tee off on Monday, May 8th at Marsh Landing Country Club.

The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation has assisted pediatric leukemia and cancer patients and their families by contributing well over 1.3 million dollars to lessen financial burdens and provide them emotional support. Though Coughlin is coaching in New York he remains committed to the Jacksonville community through his foundations work. “Seeing the Jay Fund continue to grow in Jacksonville is heart-warming to me. We have met an important demand for families who have a child battling cancer, they need the support that the Jay Fund provides”, says Coughlin. “Although I spend everyday with the New York Giants, these children and their families fight against true adversity and are the true giants.”

Tom Coughlin will host the 2006 Golf Classic and will be joined by celebrity guests John Fox of the Carolina Panthers, Jim Mora Jr of the Atlanta Falcons, NFL coaching marvel Dick Vermeil, Urban Meyer of the Florida Gators, legendary and current NFL stars Archie and Eli Manning, Tony Boselli, Mark Brunell, ESPN personalities Chris Mortensen and Tom Jackson, and more than 20 others.

Tom Coughlin started the Jay Fund in 1996. The foundation is named in honor of Jay McGillis. Jay was a special young man who played football for Coughlin at Boston College. Through exceptional adversity and ultimate tragedy brought about by his fatal illness, Jay and his family set an example of courage and dignity that would forever leave its mark on all those who knew him.
