MEMORIAL AND HONOR GIFTS
Many individuals and families who have been helped or have been touched by someone in need wish to give to the Jay Fund. Some make ongoing contributions in memory of a loved one. To commemorate special occasions, in Honor gifts are a thoughtful way to observe a loved one’s birthday, anniversary, a special occasion, or other important event.
Contributions given in memory or in honor of a loved one can be made by cash or check. Please include the names and addresses of family members you would like us to notify.

MATCHING GIFTS
Many employers have matching gift programs through which your generosity to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation can be multiplied. Please obtain the appropriate form from your company’s personnel office and include it with your gift.

GIFTS OF STOCK AND APPRECIATED SECURITIES
Gifts of appreciated securities can be donated directly to the Jay Fund and may help you avoid capital gains taxes. You can receive a tax deduction for the full value of the gift. The benefits of giving securities include: A charitable deduction based on the market value of the security on the date of the gift and no payment of capital gains tax on the appreciated value of securities.
If the securities are held by you…
1. By certified first class mail, send your certificate without endorsement, assignment or other notations to: Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation

2. Enclose a letter stating the purpose of the gift.
3. In a separate envelope, send stock power (one for each certificate) endorsed in blank- that is filling in only your signature but no other information. Your name should appear exactly as it does on the certificate. Include a copy of the letter you mailed with the certificate.
4. Please DO NOT instruct your banker or broker to sell the securities from your account and forward the proceeds to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation. This would represent a cash transaction and you would be liable for the capital gains tax.
If the securities are held by a bank or brokerage…
1. Write a letter to your bank or broker stating “I wish to make a gift of (number) of shares of (kind and name of stock) to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation.
2. Send a copy of the letter to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation. Include on the copy the name and phone number of your broker.
3. The transfer can be initiated by you or your broker. When your broker calls 904-218-5931 a Merrill Lynch representative will provide you with instructions on how to wire transfer the (DTC) security.

CREATIVE AVENUES
There are ways you can support the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation mission that also may help you reduce taxes, provide for your family and increase your income. Check with your attorney and financial advisor to  determine if planned giving should be an option for you and your family.
You may wish to help support us through a bequest, which is a gift left in your will. These gifts could be a particular item or dollar amount and can include tangible personal property, securities, or what remains after you have provided for your survivors.

We promise to put them to good use by assisting those in need or to decreasing our fund raising expenses. The value of the donation can be counted as a charitable donation at tax time.
