The Jay Fund Foundation provides support by assisting children and families touched by leukemia or other cancers with financial needs they incur during treatment for the child’s disease.

The target population is children and young adults, ages 0-22 years old, who are currently undergoing treatment up until 6 months after treatment ends.

All financial assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis based on the needs of the family.

Families must be permanent residents of the New York City Metropolitan Area, including:
o The five boroughs of New York City
o Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passiac and Union Counties in New Jersey

The child must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the US who has maintained an uninterrupted residency in the area specified by the Jay Fund for at least 12 months prior to the current illness.

Initial grants will focus on providing monies for household expenses including mortgage, rent, car, electric, water, phone, and food payments.
Payments granted for these expenses will be paid directly to the vendor.

Initial giving in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area will be distributed thru a partnership with “Friends of Karen”.  Friends of Karen is dedicated to providing emotional, financial and advocacy support to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families and has been doing so for more than twenty-five years.
